The Klou KCS500 cone splitter really has opened up the options for us at Toller Tree Care LTD with the services we can offer our customers and the ways we handle and process timber. We tend not to get involved with many firewood sales and focus more on the domestic and commercial tree, woodland, and countryside work. Through our day-to-day work, we inevitably have to deal with larger timber on a regular basis, so the more options we have to deal with this, the better. In an effort to avoid moving timber from sites we often offer a chargeable service for processing timber into logs for our customers on their premises, and having the cone splitter has taken a lot of the heavy chainsaw and conventional hydraulic splitter work out of this process.
Since purchasing the Vermeer CTX100 mini skid-steer the Klou cone splitter has been on our wish list of attachments. We purchased one in March 2021 – it hasn’t disappointed and we are continuing to find new ways for it to fit into our operations each time it’s on site. One of our most recent discoveries is the ability to switch from using the slower, high-pressure hydraulic circuit on the Vermeer to the high-flow circuit, without the need to change connectors on the splitter – it rarely bogs down and offers even faster splitting.
I have noted below some of the benefits we have noticed from owning a Klou cone splitter:
